Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Stickypad. By using the service you agree to them. They’re kept short on purpose — Stickypad has a small surface area, and we’d rather you read these than skim past them.
The service
Stickypad is a sticky-note whiteboard accessible at stickypad.io. Two tiers:
- Free tier — runs entirely in your browser. No account required. No data leaves your device. Free forever.
- Cloud Sync — an optional paid subscription that syncs your boards across devices. Either $3 per month or $30 per year, billed by Stripe.
We reserve the right to change features, fix bugs, and evolve the service. We will not remove or paywall a feature you currently use as a free-tier user.
Your account
A Stickypad account is created automatically when you subscribe to Cloud Sync. You sign in with a magic link sent to your email; there is no password.
You’re responsible for keeping access to your email address current. If you lose access to your email, we may not be able to recover the account.
One person, one account. Don’t share your sign-in link with someone else — every device that clicks the link gets a session.
Subscriptions and billing
- Pricing. $3 per month or $30 per year (about 17% off versus monthly). Prices are in US dollars and exclusive of any applicable taxes.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews at the end of each billing cycle until you cancel.
- Cancellation. You can cancel anytime through your account’s billing portal (linked in Settings). Cancellation stops future charges; you retain access through the end of the current paid period.
- Refunds. We don’t prorate or refund partial periods. If you cancel mid-month or mid-year, you keep access until the period ends. If you experienced a billing error, email support@stickypad.io and we’ll make it right.
- Price changes. If we change pricing for new subscribers, your existing subscription stays at the price you originally agreed to until you cancel and re-subscribe.
- Failed payments. If your card is declined, we’ll retry per Stripe’s standard schedule and email you. If we can’t successfully charge after the retries, we pause cloud sync; your local boards remain available, and your synced board content is preserved so you can resume if you re-subscribe. A failed payment or cancellation does not delete your data — only deleting your account starts the 30-day deletion window described in our Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Stickypad to:
- Store, share, or sync illegal content, child sexual abuse material, or material that violates someone else’s intellectual property rights.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate another person.
- Attempt to break or abuse the service: probing for vulnerabilities outside a coordinated disclosure, circumventing rate limits, scraping at volume, or uploading malicious code.
- Build a competing product directly from our service (e.g., reselling Cloud Sync as your own product).
If we believe you’re violating these terms, we may suspend or terminate your account. For a serious violation we may do so without notice.
Your content
You own your boards. Stickypad doesn’t claim any rights to the notes, files, or other content you create. We hold a narrow license to store and serve your content back to you on the devices you sync — nothing more.
You’re responsible for what you put into your boards. If you sync content that violates these terms or someone else’s rights, that’s on you.
We do not access, read, or analyze your board content except as needed to operate the service (e.g., move bytes between your devices) or to investigate a specific abuse report.
Termination
You can delete your account anytime in Settings. We run a 30-day soft-delete grace so you can recover by signing in; after 30 days the account and its content are permanently deleted. See the Privacy Policy for details.
We can terminate your account for cause (violation of these terms) or for convenience with 30 days’ notice. If we terminate without cause, we’ll refund any prepaid amount for the unused period.
Service availability
We aim for high availability but don’t promise an SLA. The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Free-tier users always have a complete local copy of their boards in the browser. Cloud Sync subscribers should still keep occasional local exports for critical content — the export feature is built into the app (Settings → Export).
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stickypad and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or US$30, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest extent the law allows.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that materially affects subscribers, we’ll email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you don’t agree, cancel your subscription before the effective date and the previous terms continue to apply for the rest of your current paid period. Minor changes (typo fixes, contact details) update the effective date at the top.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Disputes that aren’t resolved by reasonable email correspondence will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If you’re a consumer in a jurisdiction whose local law guarantees you the right to bring a claim in your local courts, nothing here removes that right.
